Alvernia Eliminates Arcadia

Alvernia University defeated Arcadia University 5-4 in an elimination game to stay alive in the 2014 ECAC South Softball Tournament.
 
Arcadia and Alvernia both opened the game firing on all cylinders with each team plating three runs in their half of the first inning. However, Alvernia added two runs in the third and Arcadia could only muster one more in the fourth, falling to the Crusaders 5-4.
 
Shannon Grim led the Crusaders going 2-3 while driving in four runs. Felicia McKenna had two hits, as well as the other RBI for Alvernia. Brianna Fisher picked up the win with a complete game, scattering eight hits and striking out one en route to the victory.
 
Jessica Wood homered and had three RBI in the loss for Arcadia while Amanda Tomaschek drove in a run for the Knights. Sarah Gunia was credited with the loss in the circle.
 
Alvernia advances to play the loser of Misericordia/McDaniel tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
