UMass-Boston used an eight-run third inning to beat Penn State-Berks, 10-5, Thursday afternoon in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional at PNC Field in Moosic, PA.
Sal Frosceno had three hits and two RBI and Bryan Dupre had three hits and scored three runs for the Beacons.
Bryan Kaufman worked three innings of relief to earn the win as the Beacons advanced to Friday’s winner’s bracket final.
Tom Grablewski had three hits for Penn State-Berks and Keeanu Erb and Luke Erb had two hits each.  John McGarvey drove in two for the Lions who will face Salisbury in an elimination game, Friday at 10:00 a.m.
The Lions took a 2-0 lead in the top of third when Keeanu Erb doubled and moved to third on Nick Zipay’s bunt single.  Luke Erb singled in a run and a wild pitch made it 2-0.
Cory Fox singled to lead off the fourth for Penn State Berks and stole second before coming around on Keeanu Erb’s single to right.
The Beacons answered with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to take control.
Ryan Olivo singled through the left side and Anthony Searles walked in front of a two-run double to deep right field by Kyle Boudrais.  Bryan Dupre singled in a run to tie it and Frosceno put UMass-Boston in front on a sac fly.  The Beacons took advantage of four straight walks and an error to take an 8-3 lead.
Frosceno added an RBI-single in the fifth for UMass-Boston.
John McGarvey had a two-run double for PSU-Berks in the seventh.
