Kean banged out 15 hits in an 11-5 win over Haverford to stay alive in the NCAA Baseball Mid-Atlantic Regional, Friday afternoon at PNC Field in Moosic PA.
Tyler Heisch and Frank Urso both had three hits for Kean while Ryan Kelley and Shayne Fontana both had two hits and two RBI.
Tyler Hopman went the distance for the Cougars to improve to 6-1.
Kean will face Penn State-Berks in an elimination game Friday evening.
Ethan Lee-Tyson had two hits and three RBI for Haverford while Yannick Villanueva and Ben Furlong had two hits each.
Fontana doubled to deep center to make it 5-1. Andy Lopez singled up the middle to drive in a run and another came home when Matt Krupa reached on an error. Chris Amato singled through the right side, stole second and third and scored on Sal Taormina’s single through the same hole. Haverford took a 1-0 in the first on Sam Partee’s bases-loaded sacrifice fly, but Kean answered with five runs in the bottom half.
Furlong singled with one out in the second, moved to second on a ground out and scored on Lee-Tyson’s single up the middle to get within 5-2.
Ryan Kelley singled in a run in the bottom of the second to put Kean up 6-2.
Haverford got a run back in the top of the fourth, but Kean answered with two runs to take an 8-3 lead.
Furlong hit an RBI ground-rule double in the top of sixth and Lee-Tyson singled in another to make it 8-5.
Kelley reached on an error in the bottom of inning and eventually scored on a balk to give the Cougars a 9-5 lead.
