Chris Wadas

Chris Wadas ’05 is in his 20th season as the head coach of cross country and track & field at Misericordia University. 

He has guided women’s cross country team to seven MAC championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2023, 2024) and led the men’s cross country team to a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference title in his first season at the helm in 2006. 

The women’s track & field team has captured five MAC indoor titles (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022) and three MAC outdoor titles (2015, 2016, 2022). 

He has been named the MAC Coach of the Year 14 times and is a two-time Mideast Regional Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year. 

Wadas has coached three individual NCAA Champions along with multiple All-Americans and NCAA championships qualifiers. 

In 2013-14, Ashlee Ward to the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor High Jump titles Juwan and Petties-Jackson won the national title in the indoor 200m in 2017. 

Wadas holds a Level 1 USATF Coaching Certification and achieved a USATF Level 2 in endurance training. 

He is a member of the Misericordia Athletics Hall of Fame and the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame. 

As a student-athlete, Wadas led the Cougars to four straight PAC cross country team titles and was a four-time team MVP. In addition, he was the Wendy’s Misericordia Athlete of the Year in 2003-04.
