Lindsay McCarthy is entering her seventh year as the head softball coach at Misericordia University.
She has guided the Cougars to five consecutive MAC Freedom postseason berths and numerous accolades on and off the field, including 134 wins over six seasons.
She owns a career record of 150-110 (.577), including a 134-74 (.644) at Misericordia.
Five Misericordia players were named to the 2021 All-MAC Freedom team, including first year Nikki Elliott, who was named Rookie of the Year.  Elliott and senior Maddie Holub earned NFCA All-East Region status.
The Cougars completed their 2021 season with a 24-6 overall record that included a 17-3 mark in conference action. McCarthy was named the 2021 MAC Freedom Coach of the Year and notched her 150
th career win on May 14, 2021 in a 7-1 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology.
In McCarthy’s first six seasons at the helm, 10 student-athletes have been named to the NFCA All-Region team, 28 have been named All-MAC Freedom, 75 have been named to MAC-Freedom Academic Honor Roll and the team has compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.50. The team is also very active in the community with more than 1,500 community service hours.
McCarthy was named head coach at Misericordia in August, 2015 after spending one season at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg.  Prior to Pitt-Greensburg, she spent a year as an assistant at Towson University and a year at Bucknell University.
McCarthy graduated from Frostburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education and a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision.
As a player, McCarthy was an all-conference selection and played a major part in one of the best seasons in program history when the Bobcats won the AMCC championship and advanced to the 2010 NCAA tournament.
