Sam Helmstetter is in her first season as an assistant coach at Misericordia University.
A sixth-year student in Misericordia’s physical therapy doctoral program, Helmstetter was a two-time Freedom Conference Player of the Year and led the Cougars to the 2012 Freedom title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Final Four.
Helmstetter was a four-time first-team All-Freedom selection and was a first-team NSCAA All-American as a senior.
She is second on MU’s career scoring list with 122 points and holds the career record with 34 assists. She is third in career goals (44).
