The Misericordia University volleyball team suffered a hard-fought 3-1 loss Wednesday night against conference rival Wilkes University. The loss snapped a six-game win streak that included a conference win at Delaware Valley.
The Cougars lost the first set 25-23. Although they kept it close throughout, a Colonel rally allowed them to take a 1-0 advantage.
The Colonels took the second set in much more convincing fashion with a 25-19 final.
The Cougars finally clawed back in the third set. The Colonels held advantage at 21-21, but the Cougars teetered back-and-forth with their foes to carve a 34-32 final.
The Colonels rallied for a 25-22 win in the fourth game to clinch the victory.
Senior
Michelle DiCicco led the offense with 16 kills while sophomore
Alexandra Goble had nine.
The seniors fueled the defense as well with
Amy Porambo leading the team with 19 digs.
Rachel Hullinger added 10 more and DiCicco smashed three solo blocks.
Sophomore
Shannon Kane also had 11 digs.
The Cougars hit the road for the Lycoming Tournament Oct. 4.
