The Misericordia University women's tennis team beat King's College Tuesday to close out the 2008 season and enter the school's history book. At 13-2, the team bested a 12-win mark set in 2006.
The team finished the season 42-26 in singles and 38-10 in doubles.
Abby Searfoss and Ashley Mangabang stretched their win streak to ten with a close victory in first doubles over Jillian Tallarico and Cynthia Darby. The match went to a tiebreaker that resulted in an 8-8, 9-7 win.
Both Searfoss (6-1, 6-1) and Mangabang (6-2, 6-1) won their respective first and second singles matches in convincing fashion.
Maura Haupt and Courtney Otto improved to 10-3 after winning the second doubles match 8-0. Both also won in third (6-2, 3-6, 10-6) and fourth (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) singles, respectively.
Lauren Verret notched her third consecutive win with a 6-4, 6-3 mark in sixth singles.
Lauren Breen was the only member of the King's squad to leave Dallas victorious. She defeated Misericordia's Sarah Golis 7-5, 6-1 in fifth singles.
The MAC Individual Championships begin Saturday.
