Vinny Baumunk scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 74-66 win over host York in the consolation game of the White Rose City Classic, Sunday.
Ethan Eichhorst added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds and
Dom Del Prete added 12 points.
Robbie Johnson had nine points and six assists.
After York scored to open the game, the Cougars responded with a 10-0 run over the first minutes on their way to a 37-28 halftime lead.
Johnson had four points in the spurt and Baumunk, Del Prete and Eichhorst all added a bucket.
York battled back to take 56-55 lead with 8:23 remaining, but the Cougars responded with a 19-10 run to close game, including a 7-0 spurt in the final two minutes.
With the score tied 58-58, Eichhorst converted a three-point play to ignite a 9-2 that gave MU a 67-60 lead with 3:12 remaining.
After Eichhorst's three-point play, he grabbed a defensive rebound that led to a Baumunk layup and 63-58 lead.
Following a York bucket, Baumunk and Eichhorst mae back-to-back layups to stretch the lead to seven.
York closed to within 67-64 with 2:12 to go, but MU responded with a 7-0 run for a 74-64 lead with 23 seconds left.
Johnson, Del Prete and Eichhorst all made one free throw and Baumunk had consecutive layups to close out the MU scoring.
Misericordia, 1-1,
will host Baptist Bible, Friday at 8:00 in the first round of the 17th Annual Ramada Laurel Line Tournament.
