The Misericordia University dropped its season opener to Cortland, 75-54, in the opening round of the Skidmore Invitational.

Cortland had a commanding edge in rebounding, 55-28, including 23 on the offensive end.

The Red Dragons opened the second half on a 7-0 run to break open a two-point game.

Lacey DeGraw led the Cougars with 13 points.

Lindsey Sykes added 12 points and seven rebounds and freshman Christine Marks had 10 points in her collegiate debut.

The Cougars will face Western New England, Sunday at noon.
