Sam Helmstetter recorded her first career hat trick as the Misericordia University women's soccer extended its winning streak to four with a 3-1 win over Delaware Valley, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.

The Cougars carried the play throughout the day and finally broke through when Lauren Payne fed Helmstetter for a 1-0 lead midway through the first period.

Del Val scored 10 minutes later on their only opportunity of the half.

Helmstetter headed home the game-winner at 58:00 minutes off a corner from Jenn Brucker.

Helmstetter added an insurance goal seven minutes later with a blast from 18 yards out.

Kristen Gedon made her second career start in goal and made one save to earn her second straight win.

The Cougars improved to 6-9 overall and 3-1 in the Freedom.

MU will travel to Eastern, Tuesday.
