The Misericordia University volleyball team swept Delaware Valley, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22), Tuesday night at the Anderson Center.
Krystal Burford led the Cougars with three kills and six blocks and
Cailin McCullion added eight kills.
Lexie Goble and
Shannon Kane both had six kills and four aces and
Lisa Holdsworth had six kills.
Kristin Hoffman had 21 assists and
Jesse Karger had 25 receptions and 22 digs.
The Cougars trailed 12-7 in the opener and fought back to a 14-14 tie thanks to a pair of service aces by Kane and a block by Holdsworth and Burford.
Tied 16-16, Burford and McCullion combined for a block and Burford followed with a kill for an 18-16 lead.
A solo block by Goble and Karger's ace sandwiched between a pair of Hoffman kills put MU ahead 24-18.
Del Val pulled within 24-22 before ending the game on a service error.
After falling behind 8-0 in the second game, MU took a timeout and rattled off 12 of the next 13 points for a 12-11 lead.
The teams traded points until MU broke an 18-18 tie with a 7-0 run to end the game.
Goble had back-to-back aces for a 20-18 lead and Holdsworth's kill made it 22-18 before Burford finally ended it with a solo block.
The Cougars jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the final game and held off a late Del Val rally.
Kane's kill put MU ahead 19-12, but the Aggies went on a 5-0 run to pull within two, 19-17.
Hoffman's ace made it 21-17, but Dal Val scored four straight points for a 21-21 tie.
Kane and McCullion had back-to back kills to give MU a 23-21 lead and after the Aggies scored, Goble made it 24-22 with a kill and she closed out the match with an ace.
MU improved to 13-8 and will host Moravian, Thursday at 7:30.
