The Misericordia volleyball team fell to 1-3 in the Freedom Conference with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-12) loss to local rival King's tonight.
The Cougars (11-7 overall) were in contention early but fell victim to significant King's scoring runs in each game.
The first game was tied at 17 before King's ran off five straight points to pull ahead. In game two, the Monarchs used a seven-point run to put away a game where the Cougars had pulled to within one at 16-17.
King's then managed to top that early in the third game. With freshman
Jillian Foster serving, the Monarchs ran off ten straight points to take an 11-1 lead and quickly squash any hopes of an MU comeback.
Junior
Shannon Kane led the Cougars with 19 digs and 10 kills, with senior
Jesse Karger adding 11 digs.
Kristen Hoffman had 14 assists, followed by
Megan Hotaling with 10.
Next up, the Cougars travel to Eastern for a crucial conference match on October 14.
