Junior
Kim Suchoski continued her assault on the Misericordia career scoring records, moving into a tie for eighth all-time in goals scored as her two breakaway finishes allowed the Cougars to defeat Lycoming 2-1.
The win gave the Cougars (3-9, 0-1) some much-needed momentum as they prepare for a crucial run of five straight conference games.
The Cougars had conceded the first goal in eight of their last nine games, but finally got the start they needed five minutes into the match. Suchoski scored on a breakaway to grab her team-leading third goal of the year.
Lycoming struck just before halftime though, with
Kati Shaner scoring from outside the box.
Just over four minutes after halftime however, Suchoski scored the winner off a nice pass from freshman
Sam Helmstetter. It was the 22nd goal of Suchoski's career.
Each side recorded five shots on goal. MU goalkeeper
Morgan Myers made four saves to earn her third victory of the season.
Misericordia will travel to FDU-Florham on Saturday before returning home for two home conference matches next week against Wilkes and Delaware Valley.
