The Misericordia women's tennis team fell to 3-2 in conference play today after being swept 9-0 by defending Freedom Conference champion Wilkes.
Despite playing three freshmen in their top four spots, the undefeated Colonels (3-0, 2-0) haven't lost a step. Wilkes easily took the three doubles points and then proceeded to win each singles match in straight sets.
Misericordia number one
Abby Searfoss put up the toughest challenge, losing a tough first set to Wilkes freshman phenom
Melanie Nolt and eventually falling 7-5, 6-3.
The Cougars are now 7-3 overall and travel to Manhattanville on October 17 for their final regularly scheduled match of the fall season. MU also has a match with Mt. St. Mary to make up, along with the MASCAC individual championships, before the season shuts down for winter.
