Cougars Win Semester Finale

The Misericordia University women's basketball team ended first semester action with a 71-52 non-conference win at Rosemont, Thursday.

Christine Marks had a game-high 16 points and added seven rebounds and Jesse Robinson had 15 points, four assists and six steals.

Courtney Sykes and Tyann McDaniel had nine points each as the Cougars improved to 6-3.
Leading 32-28 at halftime, the Cougars took control of the game with an 11-2 run to open the second period.

After Rosemont scored to open the half, McDaniel, Sykes and Vanessa Wright made consecutive layups before Sykes converted a three-point play for a 41-30 lead with 16:17 remaining.

Robinson finished off the run with a layup to give MU a 43-30 advantage.

The Cougars answered a Rosemont bucket by scoring 11 unanswered points to take a 54-32 lead midway through the period.

Robinson got things started with three free throws and McDaniel drained a three-pointer before back-to-back baskets by Marks.

The teams traded baskets over the final 10 minutes with Rosemont never getting closer than 17.
