Despite placing five players in double figures, the Misericordia University men's basketball team dropped a 96-89 non-conference decision at Susquehanna, Wednesday.
Dom Del Prete led the Cougars with 25 points while
Robbie Johnson added 15 and six assists.
Ethan Eichhorst had 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds and
Jeff Slanovec added 14 points.
Marcus Little had 11 points and seven assists.
The Cougars shot a blistering 58.3% from the floor, including 54.5% from three-point range (12-22).
But, Susquehanna made more shots from behind the arc (16-33) and converted five more free throws for the winning margin.
Del Prete highlighted a high-scoring first half with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting as the team's played to a 48-48 halftime tie.
Limited to just seven minutes in the first half due to foul trouble,
Mark Williams scored the first four points of the second half for a 42-48 lead.
But, he headed back to the bench with his third foul just two minutes into the half and Susquehanna took their first lead of the game with an 8-0 run.
Trailing 64-59,
Sean Bieski and Slanovec made back-to-back jumpers to get within 64-63 with 10:52 to go.
Slanovec drained another three-pointer and Eichhorst made a jumper to pull even, 68-68.
Susquehanna used an 8-2 run to take a 76-70 lead with 7:56 to play before Johnson scored five straight points to make it 76-75 at 6:57.
The Crusaders used another 5-0 spurt to go ahead 84-77 before a Del Prete bucket got MU within 84-79 with 5:16 remaining.
Little's three-pointer made it 86-82 with 3:36 left, but the Cougars never got any closer.
MU, 5-4, will close out first semester action at Marywood, Saturday at 3:00.
