The Misericordia University men's basketball team's playoff hopes suffered a blow with a tough 47-45 loss at Manhattanville, Saturday.

Vinny Baumunk scored a game-high 14 points for the Cougars and Marcus Little and Ethan Eichhorst both added seven points.

After falling behind 3-2 in the opening minutes, the Cougars built a 26-21 halftime lead.

Misericordia led 37-27 with 12:06 remaining and led throughout the contest until Manhattanville grabbed a 44-43 lead with 2:29 to play.

A putback by Eichhorst was MU's only offense over the final 5:29.

The Cougars will host Wilkes in a critical Freedom Conference game, Tuesday at 8:00.  MU needs to beat Wilkes and Delaware Valley have Alvernia lose to FDU-Florham or DeSales to have a shot at a Freedom playoff berth.
