Cougars Drop Heartbreaker at King's

The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 45-44 decision at King's, Wednesday.

King's made a pair of three-pointers in the final three minutes, including the game-winner with nine seconds remaining, to take their only lead of the second half.

MU missed a game-winner as time expired.

Lacey DeGraw led the Cougars with 19 points while Jesse Robinson added 14 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Vanessa Wright had six assists for the Cougars.

Trailing 24-17 at halftime, MU used a 12-0 run over the first nine minutes of the second half to take a 31-24 lead.

Wright, Courtney Sykes and Robinson all converted layups before DeGraw sank a pair of free throws.

DeGraw made back-to-back buckets to end the run.

Robinson's layup gave the Cougars a 39-32 lead with 5:50 to play, but King's went on a 10-3 run over the next two minutes to tie the score, 42-42, with 3:01 remaining.

MU is 9-10 overall and 5-6 in the Freedom Conference and will host Eastern for Senior Appreciation Day, Saturday at 1:00.
