The Misericordia University men's tennis team defeated Baptist Bible 7-1 in a nonconference match at home Wednesday.
Frank Nutt (6-1, 6-2), Nate Powers (6-2, 6-3), Matt Hopkins (6-1, 6-0) and Justin Muthler (6-1, 6-4) won in Nos. 2-5 singles. Muthler leads the team with 10 wins in singles play this season.
Ryne Davies was the lone winner for the Defenders with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 win over Fred Hockenbury in No. 1 singles.
Powers teamed with Hockenbury for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles to improve to 7-4 as partners.
Hopkins and Muthler teamed for the 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles and improved to 7-5.
Matt Erney and Ryan Felsman teamed together for the first time at No. 3 doubles and won 8-6.
The Cougars host Lycoming tomorrow at 3:30.
