Susquehanna Holds Off Men's Soccer 1-0

9/15/2009 9:26:53 PM

The Misericordia men's soccer team fell to Susquehanna 1-0 tonight, despite holding a 14-6 advantage in shots for the match.

For the second time in four games, the Cougars doubled their opponents' shot total and dominated other statistics such as corner kicks, but were still shut-out.

The Cougars sit at 1-3-1 after the loss. If there was a bright spot for Misericordia, it was the return of influential senior Cody Harman from a pre-season knee injury.

MU fell behind in the 27th minute on a Susquehanna breakaway. Despite the Crusaders missing their starting goalkeeper through suspension, the Cougars could not respond. Joey Scanlon went closest just before halftime, hitting the post.

Scanlon had another great chance after the break, shooting high just two minutes into the second half. The junior midfielder led MU with five shots.

Senior goalkeeper Andrew Loyd made three saves for the Cougars. MU plays at home this Saturday, 4:30 PM against Baptist Bible.
