Dom Del Prete drained a three-pointer with 2.7 seconds remaining to lift the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 51-50 come-from-behind win at Delaware Valley, Saturday.
Ethan Eichhorst led the Cougars with 19 points while Del Prete added nine points and eight rebounds.
Marcus Little had just three points, but took two charges in the second half and played solid defense while holding Del Val's James Jones to four points in just 14 minutes.
MU trailed 50-48 with 2:31 to play and both teams missed multiple scoring chances until Del Prete's off-balance game-winner.
The Cougars trailed 28-20 at halftime and fell behind 32-20 early in the second half before rallying.
Jeff Slanovec nailed a three-pointer to ignite an 18-6 run and Del Prete and
Mark Leonard sandwiched layups around an Eichhorst putback to get within 34-29 with 14:55 to go.
Eichhorst scored the next eight points for MU to get within 38-36 and Del Prete's layup tied it, 38-38, with 10:46 to go.
Del Val inched ahead 47-42 but was limited to three free throws over the final 4:23.
Eichhorst and Del Prete both sank two free throws to get within 49-46 and an Eichhorst layup made it 49-48 with 3:22 to play.
The Cougars improved to 10-8 overall and 4-4 in the Freedom and will host Wilkes, Wednesday at 8:00.
