The Misericordia University men's basketball team became the latest to fall to a red-hot Albright squad as a late rally allowed the Lions to leave the Anderson Center with an 82-73 win.

The Cougars fall to 7-5 with the loss. Albright is now 11-1, with their only defeat coming against defending national finalist Richard Stockton.

Sophomore Ethan Eichhorst was on fire off the bench for Misericordia, finishing 8-of-12 for a team-high 19 points. Also shooting well for the Cougars were Dom Del Prete (6-of-11, 17 points) and Robbie Johnson (7-of-13, 14 points).

Leading by one with 12 minutes to play, Eichhorst hit a three-pointer. Mark Leonard then stole a pass and was knocked down hard, resulting in an intentional foul call. Eichhorst hit another trey on the ensuing inbounds pass, giving the Cougars their largest lead of the night, 59-52.

Albright then scored five unanswered points, including several offensive rebounds, before an emphatic rebound by Del Prete led to a Slanovec three-pointer, giving MU a 62-57 lead with seven minutes to play.

Again Albright fought back, this time with nine unanswered points. Johnson ended the run with a jumper but the Lions made their shots down the stretch to lock up the victory.

While Del Prete had opened the first half scoring with a three-pointer, a string of turnovers caused MU to fall behind early. Eichhorst responded with two straight baskets, one off a great feed from Mark Williams, to tie the game at 11.

The teams traded baskets for the rest of the half, with neither side leading by more than four. A Del Prete put-back in the final minute made the score 35-33 Albright, but the Lions hit a buzzer-beater to enter halftime with a four-point lead.

The Lions were led by junior Matt Ashcroft, who had 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including six three-pointers. Classmate Zac Shaeffer added 18 points, and shot a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
