Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at Cedar Crest

The Misericordia University volleyball team split a tri-match today at Cedar Crest, defeating the hosts after falling to Philadelphia Bible in its first match of the day.

Against Philadelphia Bible, the Cougars were competitive throughout but were ultimately swept 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22).

Junior Krystal Burford led MU with eight kills and two blocks. Classmate Kristin Hoffman also had a pair of blocks to go with six kills and eight assists.

Setter Meghan Hotaling had a team-high 15 assists. Sophomore Cailin McCullion had 19 digs and freshman Nicole Korgeski added 12 digs.

In their second match, the Cougars easily swept Cedar Crest 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-12).

Hoffman had nine kills, a .533 hitting percentage and 15 assists in the victory.

Hotaling also had 15 assists, while McCullion had six kills and 12 digs.

Korgeski ran off three consecutive service aces in the first game.

MU is now 11-9 overall and faces an important Freedom Conference matchup, at Delaware Valley on Tuesday.
