Despite a combined 51 points from
Christine Marks and
Jesse Robinson, the Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a tough 74-72 decision at Lycoming, Tuesday.
Marks had a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds and Robinson added 25 points, including a school record 17 of 19 from the free throw line.
Tyann McDaniel added 11 points for the Cougars.
After battling to 36-36 halftime tie, Lycoming built a 60-48 lead with 9:21 to play.
Marks converted a three-point play and added a jumper to get within nine, 62-53, and Robinson converted a three-point play to make it 62-56 with 7:32 remaining.
Marks followed with another three-point play to get within three, 62-59, with 7:11 to go.
Marks made it 62-61 with a layup off an assist from McDaniel.
Lyco went up 67-62, Robinson sank a pair of free throws and a McDaniel layup made it 67-66 with 5:09 left.
A Marks' putback gave MU a 68-67 lead and Robinson drained four straight free throws for a 72-67 lead with 3:05 to play.
But, the Cougars were held scoreless the rest of the way as Lycoming closed the game on a 7-0 run.
