Ethan Eichhorst led five players in double figures and the Misericordia University men's basketball team held off a late rally to earn a 93-87 win at Penn College, Wednesday.
Eichhorst scored a game-high 27 points and added eight rebounds while
Robbie Johnson and
Sean Bieski added 17 and 13 points, respectively.
Jeff Slanovec had 11 points and
Frank Nutt added 10.
MU built and 18-point lead, 66-48, with 9:46 to play, but Penn got within two, 87-85, in the final minute.
Eichhorst, Nutt and
Billy Artzerounian all made two free throws in the closing seconds to secure the win.
Leading 49-44 with 13:46 remaining, the Cougars went on a 17-4 run to take a 66-48 lead.
Bieski started the spurt with a pair of layups and Nutt gave MU a 10-point advantage with a three-pointer.
Eichhorst sandwiched a two layups around Nutt's three-point play and
Chris Undersinger finished the surge with a three-pointer.
Penn nailed five three pointers in a two-minute span to get within two points with 42 seconds left.
MU is 8-5 and will visit Delaware Valley, Saturday afternoon.
