The Misericordia University men's soccer team opened its Freedom Conference schedule with a 3-0 win over Wilkes in front a large Homecoming crowd, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.

Andy Bush, Dan Pinto and Bryan Kulbacki all scored for the Cougars and Nick Ferguson added an assist.

Bush put MU ahead with 12 minutes remaining in the first half while Pinto and Kulbacki added insurance goals in the second half.

Bush gathered a loose ball in front of the Colonels goal and buried it in the back of the net for his team-leading ninth goal of the year.

The Cougars, who held a commanding 25-5 advantage in shots, kept up the attack in the second half when Matt Scott's shot from just outside the box hit the crossbar at 52:27.

Six minutes later, Rob Wiacek's header off a Matt Scott corner hit the crossbar, but Pinto buried the rebound to give MU a 2-0 lead at 58:51.

The Cougars got their last goal when Kulbacki redirected a free kick from Ferguson at 87:51.

Dan Fritz made two saves for his seventh shut out of the year.

The Cougars improved to 9-0 and will host Dickinson, Wednesday at 7:00.
