The Misericordia University volleyball team swept Lycoming, 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-11), Thursday night at the Anderson Center.
Krystal Burford led MU with 12 kills and two blocks while
Cailin McCullion had 10 kills and Kat LaBrie added nine.
McCullion and
Molly Harleman both had three aces and
Kristin Hoffman had 18 assists.
Behind two aces from Harleman, the Cougars raced out to an 11-0 lead in the opener and never looked back.
McCullion and Burford followed with a block and
Nicole Korgeski hit through a Lycoming block attempt for a 15-1 lead.
A Burford slam and McCullion's ace made it 15-3.
After the Warriors got within 19-9, Korgeski stopped their run with a dink and McCullion's kill made it 21-9.
Another ace from Harleman made it 23-9 and Korgeski closed out the set with a kill down the right side line.
Hoffman opened the second set with an ace and the Cougars took advantage of seven Lycoming service errors.
Korgeski, Hoffman and McCullion had consecutive kills to put MU ahead, 18-10, but the Warriors eventually rallied to within 23-21.
After a Lyco service error, Burford ended the set with an emphatic slam for a 25-21 win.
A Misericordia ball handling error to open the third set gave Lycoming its first lead of the night, but MU recovered for a 10-4 lead behind back-to-back kills by Burford and a McCullion ace.
Kellyn Swanson's ace put MU ahead, 18-8, and Burford's kill through a block attempt made it 20-8.
Burford added a solo block for a 22-9 lead and Harleman's kill and an ace by McCullion made it 24-10 before the match ended on a Lyco attack error.
MU is 9-12 and will play a tri-match with Lehman College at William Paterson, Saturday.
