The Misericordia University volleyball team ended its Freedom Conference schedule with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-14) sweep over Manhattanville, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
On Senior Appreciation Day, senior
Krystal Burford had 10 kills, two aces and two solo blocks while classmate
Kristin Hoffman had 25 assists and two kills.
Cailin McCullion had 13 kills and three aces and Kat LaBrie and
Carly Zaklukiewicz added six kills each.
Molly Harleman had two aces.
After cruising to a 25-11 win in the opening set, the Cougars used a 7-0 run to close the second set for a 25-20 win.
Trailing 20-18, Labrie's kill pulled MU within one before McCullion had four straight kills for a 23-20 lead.
Burford followed with a kill and the set ended on a Manhattanville ball handling error.
The Cougars broke an 8-8 tie in the third set on the way to a 25-14 win.
McCullion's ace put MU ahead and Zaklukiewicz had two kills and Burford added two aces for a 16-10 lead.
LaBrie added an ace and Burford had a solo block for a block for a 22-12 lead.
MU improved to 12-12 and finished 3-4 in the Freedom Conference.
The Cougars will travel to Rosemont for the season finale, Saturday.
