The Misericordia University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, 2-0, to Manhattanville, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

The Valiants scored twice in the final 16 minutes of the first half.
Eros Olazabal, the nation's leading scorer, drilled a direct kick from 22 yards out off the inside of the left post to give Manhattanville a 1-0 lead at 29:45.

The Valiants made it 2-0 off another re-start when Emil Sjoberg headed home Adam Kent's serve at 36:56.

The Cougars had the first dangerous opportunity when Eric Kishbaugh played a ball over the top to Dan Pinto whose volley went over the crossbar nine minutes into the game.

Two minutes later, MU's corner was headed out of the box, and Greg Korhonen grounded a shot right at Manhattanville keeper Jason Torres.

Manhattanville's Erick Olazabal played a cross into the box, but Korhonen headed it away at 15:30.

Eros Olazabal got behind the MU defense just a minute later, but he lost his footing and MU keeper Dan Fritz came off his line to collect the ball.

Chris Panagacos nearly got MU on the board at 25:00, but his header went just wide of the left post.

The Cougars had a solid chance early in the second half when David Stoner dribbled through the defense before ripping a shot from 25 yards out that sailed just over the bar at 53:45.

Five minutes later, Bush dodged three defenders as he dribbled along the end line before his shot ended up in the side netting.

Nick Ferguson gave MU another chance at 70:25 when he settled a ball at the top of the box, but his shot was high.
