Lions Rally Past Cougars

12/7/2011 9:43:00 PM

The Misericordia men's basketball team lost to Albright, 61-56, at the Anderson Center, Wednesday evening.

The Cougars' top scorer was senior forward Ethan Eichhorst with 20 points while freshman center Cael Evans came off the bench to score 12 points and gather five rebounds.

The Cougars started the second half hot, Eichhorst converted on a three point play, and Matt Greene hit a three-pointer to go up by 13.

Albright went on a 9-0 run to pull within two.  The Lions took their first lead of the second half off a Derek Hall jumper with four minutes left to play.  The Cougars pulled within one off an Evens layup, but Albright's Sam Marrella buried two free-throws to secure the win for the Lions.

The Cougars came out shooting in the first half, with a Greene three-pointer and then Evans answered with a layup to go up 5-1.  Albright would come back and tie it at 7-7 to force MU to call a timeout.

After the timeout, the teams traded jump shots until Eichhorst drained two buckets from downtown to go up by three.  Eichhorst was fouled on a made fade-away jumper and converted the foul shot for a successful three-point play to give the Cougars a six point lead.

Hall made a layup, for Albright, to pull within two, but Evans answered with a jumper of his own to give MU a four point lead entering the half.

Misericordia will host Lebanon Valley, December 18.
