The Misericordia University volleyball team improved to 2-0 with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-9, 25-23, 25-22) over Immaculata, Saturday at the Anderson Center.
Krystal Burford led the Cougars with 12 kills, three blocks and two aces.
Molly Harleman had eight kills and two aces and
Kristin Hoffman had 10 assists and two aces.
Kellyn Swanson had four aces and 17 digs and Kat LaBrie added five kills.
The Cougars led the opening game, 13-9, before Immaculata rallied to take a 21-15 lead.
Nicole Korgeski had a kill and an ace to make it 21-17 and a pair of aces by Swanson gave MU a 23-22 lead, but the Macs rallied for the 26-42 win.
Kristin Hoffman served MU to a 6-0 lead in the second game as the Cougars cruised to a 25-9 win. Burford had a block to put Misericordia up, 8-2, and the Cougars opened a 19-5 lead.
After a Korgeski kill, Harleman's ace made it 24-8 and Burford closed it out with a kill just one point later.
Burford broke a 3-3 tie in the third game with a dink and an ace for a 5-3 lead. Swanson's ace put MU ahead 10-7 and back-to-back kills by
Carly Zaklukiewicz and Burford made it 12-7.
Immaculata battled back to an 18-18 tie before two LaBrie kills gave MU a 21-19 lead. Harleman hit through two blockers for a 22-19 lead and two Immaculata errors made it 24-19.
Immaculata ran off four straight points before Harleman's secured a 25-23 win.
The teams traded points throughout the final game with Immaculata eventually taking a 22-19 lead. Burford's kill and a dink by Harleman to MU with 22-21 before Hoffman's ace tied it.
Burford added another kill for a 23-22 lead and the game ended on a pair of Immaculata errors.
Misericordia will play at Philadelphia Bible, Tuesday.
