Philly Bible Rallies Past MU

The Misericordia University volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season, 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 11-25, 13-25), at Philadelphia Bible, Tuesday.

Kat LaBrie led the Cougars with nine kills and Krystal Burford added six kills.

Kristin Hoffman had 22 assists and 22 digs and Kellyn Swanson had 30 receptions.

Tied at 14-14 in the opener, PBU committed three straight attack errors to put MU ahead, 17-14.

The Crimson Eagles battled back to tie it, 20-20.

The Cougars went ahead 22-21 on a kill by Burford and eventually won it on another Burford kill with an assist from Nicole Korgeski.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the second game, the Cougars fell behind, 8-3, and trailed throughout much of the game.

Down 19-16, the Cougars rallied to take 21-20 lead on back-to-back kills from Burford.

MU went ahead 24-23, but PBU closed the game with three straight points to secure the win.

Philly Bible raced out to a 14-3 lead in the third game and cruised to a 25-11 win.

The Crimson Eagles broke a 9-9 tie in the nightcap with a 16-4 run to close out the game and the match.

MU will host Arcadia and Marywood for a tri-match, Saturday.
