Tyann McDaniel led four players in double figures with 17 points to lead the Misericordia University women's basketball team to a 65-49 win at FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon.
Christine Marks had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars and
Hannah Seely and
Jesse Robinson added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Tied 15-15, Misericordia took control of the game with an 8-0 spurt over the final seven minutes of the first half.
McDaniel broke the tie with a three-pointer and Seely converted a three-point play for a 21-15 lead.
Marks sank a pair of free throws for a 23-15 lead and both teams went scoreless over the final 3:39 of the half.
The Cougars stretched the lead to 12 early in the second half and FDU never got closer than nine points in the last 13:40.
Leading 30-21, Seely's layup made it 32-21 and McDaniel drained a three-pointer for a 35-21 advantage with 12:18 to go.
McDaniel followed with a jumper and Marks buried a three-pointer for a 40-21 lead with 10:58 remaining.
Robinson's layup with 6:40 to play gave the Cougars their biggest lead, 48-27.
MU improved to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the Freedom Conference. The Cougars will visit Penn State Wilkes-Barre for non-conference game, Monday at 6:00.
