Matt Greene had 20 points to lead four players in double-figures as the Misericordia University men's basketball team beat DeSales, 87-72, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.
Ethan Eichhorst had 19 points and
Jeff Slanovec and
Joe Busacca added 17 and 14, respectively.
After leading 36-33 at halftime, the Cougars built a 55-40 lead with 13:14 to play thanks to consecutive three-pointers from Eichhorst, Greene and Slanovec.
DeSales cut the margin to 60-52 with 6:16 to go, but Eichhorst responded with a layup for a 62-52 lead.
Greene and Eichhorst both added two free throws for a 66-53 lead with 5:12 to go.
Busacca buried a three-pointer and added two free throws for a 71-55 lead with 3:55 remaining.
MU opened a 4-0 lead on buckets from
Steve Artzerounian and Slanovec and never trailed.
Slanovec's layup broke a 6-6 tie and
Chris Undersinger drained a three-pointer for an 11-6 lead at 13:43 and Eichhorst made it 13-6 with a jumper at 12:08.
Leading 22-18, Artzerounian made a layup and
Jerry Reilly drilled a three-pointer from the corner for a 27-18 lead with 5:33 to go in the first half.
The Cougars improved to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the Freedom and will host Delaware Valley, Saturday.
