The Misericordia University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Wilkes-Barre to take on conference rival, King's, Wednesday evening at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
MU's women, 9-7 (5-1), are riding a five-game winning streak after a 74-57 victory over Marywood, Monday.
The Cougars are ninth in the nation in field-goal percentage (44.8%) and are 31st in free-throw percentage (74.1%).
The Cougars have four players averaging double-digits in points, led by senior
Christine Marks' 21.3 ppg, good for 13th in the nation. She is shooting 49.9% from the field and 88.5% from the charity stripe which puts her 11th in the nation. She is coming off a career night where she scored a career high 36 points and grabbed 17 rebounds against Marywood.
Marks is complimented by junior guard
Tyann McDaniel who is two three-pointers away from breaking the career mark for three-point field goals made in a career (163), set by Colleen Corrigan ('04). She is in the top 20 in the nation for 3pt fg%, shooting 41.7% from behind the arc.
King's is 14-3 (6-0) and are one game ahead of MU in the standings. The Lady Monarchs are on a seven-game winning streak after they squeaked by Manhattanville, 51-49, Saturday.
MU's men, 11-6 (3-3), have won their last two games, including a 73-59 victory over Freedom opponent, Delaware Valley, Saturday. The Cougars are fifth in the nation in three-point fg% (41.3%) and they lead the Freedom Conference in free-throw percentage (73.2%).
Misericordia is led by senior 1,000 point-scorer
Ethan Eichhorst. Eichhorst is second leading scorer in the Freedom Conference (17.4 ppg) and leads MU in rebounding (7.4 rpg). He has scored 1,248 points in his career, making him the 8th leading scorer in Misericordia history.
Eichhorst is aided by senior guard
Jeff Slanovec. Slanovec is averaging 10.7 ppg and has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5 while he needs 68 points to surpass the 1,000 point mark for his career
King's is 8-9 (3-3) after an 80-69 loss to Manhattanville, Saturday. They are in a five-way tie for third place in the Freedom Conference.
