Eichhorst Game-Winner Beats King's for Woodruff's 100th Win

Ethan Eichhorst scored with one second left to lift the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 62-60 win at King's to give head coach Trevor Woodruff his 100th career victory, Wednesday.

Eichhorst, who had a game-high 17 points, broke a 60-60 tie with his game-winning layup.

Matt Greene added 13 points and six assists and Steve Artzerounian added 12 points and eight rebounds as the Cougars improved to 12-6 overall and 4-3 in the Freedom.

The Cougars trailed 49-41 with 9:14 to play, but used a quick 7-0 spurt to get within 49-48.

Greene made a pair of free throws and Eichhorst made a putback to get MU within 49-45 with 7:50 left.

Greene grabbed a long offensive rebound and drained a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 49-48 with 6:19 to go.

After King's went ahead 56-52 on a three-pointer with 3:44 to play, Greene made two of three free throws and Artzerounian added one foul shot to make it 56-55 with 2:22 to go.

Artzerounian made two free throws a minute later to give the Cougars their first lead of the second half, 57-56, with 1:13 remaining.

Eichhorst picked up a steal with just under a minute left and Greene buried a three-pointer for a 60-56 lead with 29 seconds to play.

King's got a layup with 20 seconds left and tied it with two free throws with eight seconds remaining to set the stage for Eichhorst's game-winner.

King's raced out to a 21-9 with 8:23 to play in the first half, but the Cougars closed with a 20-7 run to take their first lead, 29-28, at halftime.

Eichhorst started the run with a layup and Chris Undersinger sandwiched a three-pointer in between layups by Artzerounian and Cael Evans to get within 23-18 with 5:31 to go in the half.

Eichhorst, Evans and Joe Busacca combined for five free throws over the next two minutes to get within 26-23 with 3:22 to play in the half.

After a King's bucket, Eichhorst took a feed from Jeff Slanovec to make it 28-25 and Busacca got MU within one with a pair of free throws.

The Cougars took a 29-28 lead on an Artzerounian layup with 1:06 to go before intermission.

MU will host FDU-Florham, Saturday at 3:00.
