The Cougars to Host Rival Wilkes

The Misericordia University men's and women's basketball teams will host Freedom opponent Wilkes, Wednesday night at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

The MU women enter the game with a record of 10-8 (6-2) and are tied for second in the Freedom Conference while Wilkes is 5-14 (0-8).

The Cougars are led by senior Christine Marks, who is ranked 11th in the nation in free-throw percentage (89.0%) and 13th in scoring (20.7 ppg).  Marks leads the Freedom in rebounding grabbing 10.3 rpg.

MU's sharpshooting guard Tyann McDaniel is second in the Freedom in three-point percentage (41.1 %), and leads the conference with 2.2 treys per game. 

Misericordia is shooting 44.6% from the field, putting them 12th in the nation.

In their previous match-up Misericordia defeated Wilkes, 81-60.  Marks led all scorers with 28 points, making 14-14 from the free-throw line, and grabbing 15 rebounds.  McDaniel put up 22 points, hitting 4-9 from behind the arc.

Wilkes is led by the guard tandem of Megan Kazmerski and Elena Stambone, scoring 12.9 ppg and 12.1 ppg, respectively.  Amanda Pawlowski is second in the Freedom in assists with 5.3 apg. 

The MU men (13-6, 5-3) enter the game on a five-game winning streak and are ranked third in the Freedom, one game behind Wilkes (13-5, 6-2) and Eastern.

This is a match-up between the top-ranked offense in Wilkes (76.8 ppg) and the top-ranked defense of Misericordia (63.4ppg).

The Cougars boast a three-point shooting percentage that is eighth in the nation, shooting 41.1% from behind the arc.

Misericordia is led by senior Ethan Eichhorst, who is second in the conference in scoring (17.4 ppg) and free-throw percentage (86.4%), while leading MU in rebounding (7.1 rpg).

Sophomore Matt Greene leads the Freedom in three-point field goals made, with 2.3 a game.

The Colonels are led by Matt Mullins (15.8 ppg), Paul Huch (15.1 ppg) and Kendall Hinze (13.9 ppg), all top-10 scorers in the Freedom.  Hinze leads the conference in field goal percentage, 62.3%, while Huch is second in the Freedom in blocked shots (2.2 bpg).
