The Misericordia University volleyball team split a tri-match with Scranton and Arcadia on Senior Appreciation Day, Saturday at the Anderson Center.
After a 3-1 (13-25, 25-23, 13-25, 14-25) loss to Scranton, the Cougars swept Arcadia, 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-17).
Senior Kat LaBrie led the Cougars with nine kills against Scranton while classmate
Cailin McCullion added seven kills and a team-high 19 digs.
LaBrie added a season-high 20 kills against Arcadia while McCullion had 16 kills.
Shelby Brochetti had 11 kills.
Nicole Korgeski had 42 assists and four aces against Arcadia.
Korgeski opened the Arcadia match with two aces and LaBrie and Brochetti combined for five kills as the Cougars raced to a 9-0 lead and never looked back.
In the second set, LaBrie's kill broke an 11-11 tie and McCullion had three straight kills to give MU a 15-11 lead.
Leading 20-17, McCullion's left-handed dink made it 21-17 and Brochetti's push to the back left corner put MU ahead, 22-18.
LaBrie hit through two blockers and followed with a smash down middle to end the set, 25-19.
In the nightcap, Brochetti, McCullion and
Meghan Stack combined for four straight points as the Cougars took a 15-11 lead.
McCullion had three kills in a five-point stretch to give the Cougars a 20-14 advantage and LaBrie closed out the match with three consecutive kills.
Misericordia, 16-12, will visit Manhattanville in their Freedom Conference finale, Wednesday.
