The Misericordia University volleyball team wrapped up its Freedom Conference schedule with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-18) sweep at Manhattanville, Wednesday.
Cailin McCullion led the Cougars with 15 kills, 12 digs and three aces while Kat LaBrie added 12 kills.
Shelby Brochetti had nine kills and 19 digs and
Nicole Korgeski had 33 assists.
Kellyn Swanson added 17 digs.
Brochetti served for three consecutive points, including kills by
Meghan Stack and LaBrie, to give MU a 6-2 lead in the opener.
McCullion had a kill and an ace followed by back-to-back kills by Brochetti to stretch the lead to 14-5.
Swanson's ace and a kill by a LaBrie and a Manhattanville error made it 18-6.
Brochetti, McCullion and LaBrie had consecutive kills to give MU a 23-8 lead and the Cougars eventually closed out the set on a pair of Manhattanville service errors.
In the second set, Korgeski served for five straight points as the Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead.
McCullion and Sam Baro combined for five kills to make it 11-4.
After Manhattanville closed to within 18-16, McCullion responded with three kills to give MU a 23-17 lead.
Lexi Giannone's ace made it 24-17 and McCullion's kills closed the set, 25-18.
In the nightcap, Manhattanville led 5-4, but committed two attack errors and McCullion's ace gave MU a 9-6 lead.
Leading 13-12, the Cougars took advantage of two Manhattanville errors and back-to-back kills by McCullion made it 17-13.
Baro and LaBrie had kills to increase the lead to 23-17 and the match ended on three Valiants' errors.
Misericordia is 17-12 and finished 4-3 in the Freedom. The Cougars will visit top-seeded Eastern in a Freedom Conference semifinal next week.
