The Misericordia University volleyball season came to an end with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) loss at Eastern in the Freedom semifinals, Friday.
Shelby Brochetti led the Cougars with eight kills and Kat LaBrie added seven.
Cailin McCullion had seven kills and 11 digs.
Nicole Korgeski had 19 assists and 11 digs.
Down 7-1 in the opening set, the Cougars scored four straight points to pull within 11-9.
Brooke Anderson started the run with a kill and
Lexi Giannone added an ace and
Samantha Baro had a kill.
Eastern responded with a 9-0 spurt to take an 18-9 lead.
An Eastern error and a kill by McCullion got MU within 10-7 in the second set, but the Eagles answered with four straight points for a 14-7 lead.
In the nightcap, Brochetti had two early kills and LaBrie added a pair of kills to help the Cougars to a 4-4 tie.
McCullion's kill gave the Cougars a 6-5 lead, but the Eagles rallied for a 14-7 advantage.
Eastern built a 20-13 lead and the team's traded points for the rest of the set.
MU finished 18-14.
