Box Score Cael Evans had 17 points to lead six players in double figures as the Misericordia University men's basketball team won its second straight game, 82-75, Saturday at Manhattanville.
Steve Ware had 16 points and six assists and
Matt Greene and Travis Buckner both had 11 points.
Joe Busacca added 10 points and seven assists and
Justin Grotevant had 10 points.
The Cougars shot 69.6% in the second half to extend a 38-34 halftime lead to 18 points midway through the second half.
Evans, Busacca and Ware combined for an 8-0 run to put MU ahead 59-41 with 10:18 to go.
MU maintained a double-digit lead for much of the remainder of the game until a 7-0 Manhattanville spurt cut the lead to 72-69 with 1:33 to play.
Buckner responded with a three-pointer with 1:07 to play and added a free throw 12 seconds later.
After a Manhattanville bucket, Grotevant's dunk made it 78-73 and Busacca stretched the lead to seven with a pair of free throws with 25 seconds to play.
Buckner sank a pair of foul shots with nine seconds to go.
Misericordia, 4-2 (2-0), will host Susquehanna in a non-league game, Monday at 8:00.
