MU Men Win 10th Straight, Tie School Record for Wins

The Misericordia University men's basketball tied the school record for wins and ended the regular season on a 10-game winning streak with a77-71 win at Manhattanville, Saturday.

Ethan Eichhorst led the Cougars with 23 points and Steve Artzerounian had 20 points and 11 rebounds.

After Manhattanville scored to open the game, Chris Undersinger's three-pointer ignited a 10-0 to give the Cougars a lead they never relinquished.

Artzerounian scored four points around a three-pointer by Jeff Slanovec to put MU ahead, 10-2, less than four minutes into the game.

Jerry Reilly made a three-pointer and Brandon Stone followed with a layup to give the Cougars a 25-12 lead with 10:41 to play in the half.

Matt Greene made MU's fifth three-pointer of the half as time expired to give MU a 41-30 lead at halftime.

Undersinger buried another three early in the second half to stretch the lead to 51-37.

After the Valiants rallied to cut the lead to 59-54 with 8:49 remaining, both teams went scoreless for more than three minutes before Artzerounian made back-to-back layups for a 63-54 lead with 4:54 to go.

Eichhorst and Artzerounian both added layups to put the Cougars up 69-58 with 2:40 remaining.

Eichhorst added six free throws in final 30 seconds to seal the win.

The Cougars will host FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference semifinal, Wednesday at 8:00.
