The Misericordia University men's basketball team will host FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference semifinal, Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
The winner will face the Wilkes/Eastern survivor in Saturday's Freedom Championship game.
Misericordia, 19-6 (11-3), is the top seed and has tied the school record for wins, including a 10-game winning streak.
FDU-Florham, 13-2 (8-6), earned the fourth seed by winning four out of their last five regular season games.
MU and FDU split a pair of regular season meetings with Misericordia winning 78-51 in the Anderson Center where they went 11-1 during the regular season.
The Devils won 70-61, January 14, the last time the Cougars lost.
“We played all season to put ourselves in the position to play at home during the post-season,” said Misericordia head coach
Trevor Woodruff. “Our fan support has been tremendous at home and we look forward to an exciting atmosphere on Wednesday night.”
The Cougars are led by senior forward
Ethan Eichhorst who is third in the Freedom in scoring (17.9 ppg) and eighth in rebounding (7.3 rpg).
Despite missing seven games due to injury, junior forward is second on the team in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg).
Senior guard
Jeff Slanovec adds 9.2 ppg, including 42 three-pointers while classmate
Chris Undersinger adds 5.1 ppg and is fourth in the Freedom in three-point percentage (44.1%).
Sophomore point guard
Matt Greene leads the Freedom with 3.7 assists and 2.3 three-pointers game. He is third in three-point percentage (44.2).
Freshman point guard
Joe Busacca adds 7.5 points off the bench for the Cougars.
“Our scoring balance is certainly one of our strengths,” said Misericordia head coach
Trevor Woodruff. “We have five players on the floor that can score. It makes us difficult for our opponents to defend.”
FDU-Florham is led by senior guard Adam Katz who is 10th in the Freedom in scoring at 14.2 ppg while sophomore Will Green adds 12.0 ppg and leads the Freedom with 9.5 rpg.
Junior forward Derek Hall averages 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
