The Misericordia University basketball teams will host Eastern in a key doubleheader with Freedom Conference post-season implications, Wednesday at the Anderson Center.
The women's game is set for 6:00 p.m. and will break a three-way tie for second place while the men will snap a three-way tie for first place in the nightcap.
The Misericordia women are 12-9 overall and 7-3 in the Freedom while Eastern is 14-6 (7-3). DeSales is also 7-3 while King's in first place at 10-0.
Eastern won the first meeting with MU, 58-57, last month.
Misericordia has a balanced scoring attack that features four players in double figures, including senior forward
Christine Marks who is ranked 16th in nation at 20.0 points per game.
Jesse Robinson (11.2 ppg),
Tyann McDaniel (10.9 ppg) and
Hannah Seely (10.9 ppg) are also averaging double figures for the Cougars who are ranked 20th in the nation in field goal percentage (43.5%).
Marks is third in the country with 14 double-doubles and is 10th in free throw percentage (88.0).
Eastern leads the Freedom and is 18th in the nation in scoring at 73.4 ppg while Misericordia is second in the Freedom in team defense at 57.3 ppg.
Eastern's Meghan Nowak is seventh in the country in scoring (21.8 ppg) while Shante Jones (15.6 ppg), and Bekah Roland (13.3 ppg) are also averaging double figures.
Marks (10.8 rpg) and Nowak (9.7 rpg) are the top two rebounders in the Freedom Conference while Jones is second in the conference in assists (5.1) and steals (3.7).
McDaniel leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (40.7).
For the men, Misericordia is 15-6 (7-3) while Eastern is 14-6 (7-3). Wilkes is also 7-3 in the Freedom. Eastern rallied for a 75-70 win a month ago.
MU's
Ethan Eichhorst is the third-leading scorer in the Freedm (17.8 ppg) while Eastern's Alex Nelson is second (18.1).
Eichhorst leads the Freedom in free throw percentage (86.7) while
Matt Greene is first in three-pointers per game (2.3) and second in assists (3.5).
