Steve Artzerounian had a career-high 30 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a thrilling 94-89 overtime win over Eastern, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.

Ethan Eichhorst had 17 points, a game-high 11 rebounds and seven assists.  Matt Greene added 16 points and Jeff Slanovec and Joe Busacca had 13 and 10, respectively.

Misericordia, ranked eighth in the first regional rankings of the season, won their seventh straight game to improve to 16-6 and take over sole possession of first place in the Freedom at 8-3.

MU used a 12-0 run and appeared to put the game away with a 68-51 lead with 6:47 remaining in regulation. 

Slanovec and Undersinger hit back-to-back three-pointers and Greene sank a pair of free throws for a 64-51 advantage with 8:09 to play.

Artzerounian scored a layup off a nice feed from Eichhorst and added two free throws to give the Cougars their biggest lead of the night, 68-51.

The Eagles responded with a 13-0 run in less than three minutes to get within 68-64 with 4:18 left.

Artzerounian stopped the bleeding off a nice pass from Greene and added two free throws for a 72-64 lead with 3:25 left.

Eastern rallied to take a 77-76 lead with 1:07 to go in regulation, but Artzerounian put MU back in front, 78-77, with two free throws with :40 to go.

Sean Bieski made one free throw for a 79-77 lead with :21 remaining, but the Eagles tied it with :12 left.

Greene buried a three-pointer to open the overtime and give MU an 82-79 lead.

Slanovec put back his own miss for an 86-84 lead with 2:19 to go.

Artzerounian finished off a lob pass from Eichhorst to break an 86-86 tie with 1:40 remaining and Eichhorst sank two free throws for a 90-86 advantage with under a minute to go.

Artzerounian and Greene both converted two free throws in the final seconds to secure the win.

The Cougars broke a 20-20 tie to eventually take a 39-32 halftime lead.

Eichhorst put MU ahead with a jumper inside the three-point arc and made it 25-20 when he converted a putback into a three-point play.

After an Eastern basket, Greene swished a deep three-pointer for a 28-22 lead, but the Eagles rallied to forge a 30-30 tie with 3:41 to go.

Joe Busacca's short jumper put MU ahead, 32-30, and Jeff Slanovec added two free throws for a 34-30 lead with 2:56 left.

Eastern cut the lead to 34-32, but Greene responded with a three-pointer from the top of the key for a 37-32 lead.

Artzerounian closed out the first half scoring with a layup off a nice feed from Busacca.

Misericordia will travel to Delaware Valley, Saturday.
