Andy Bush started his senior season off on a strong note, netting two goals as the Misericordia University men's soccer team defeated Ursinus College, 3-0, in their season opener Friday evening at McGeehan Field.

David Stoner added a goal for the Cougars (1-0), while senior
Eric Kishbaugh and junior
Nick Ferguson each added an assist.
Bush wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, punching in a goal in the fourth minute to give the Cougars an early 1-0 lead. Bush converted again in the seventh minute off a well-executed corner by Ferguson.
Stoner tacked on an insurance goal in the 49
th minute on a feed from Kishbaugh to extend the Cougars' lead to 3-0.
Ursinus (0-1) found their best chance to score late in the game on a penalty kick opportunity for Ryan Butler, but senior goalkeeper
Dan Fritz made a brilliant save to preserve the shutout.
Fritz stopped six shots in goal overall for the Cougars, while Bears' goalkeeper Kieran Keyser had a pair of saves. MU outshot Ursinus 16-12 while the Bears held a slight 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, hosting Gettysburg in a non-conference matchup that will begin at 7:00 PM.
