The Misericordia University women's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 win at Swarthmore in the opening round of the Swarthmore Classic.

Laura Roney scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half with an assist from Megan Lannigan.

Freshman Maureen Ciccosanti made four saves in goal to earn the shutout in her first collegiate start.

Lannigan entered the game at 20:18 and found Roney for the game-winner five minutes later.

Sam Helmstetter had a pair of shots saved by the Swarthmore keeper just prior to Roney's goal.

MU will play at Bryn Mawr, Sunday at 1:00.
