Chris Panagacos scored with 22 seconds remaining in the first overtime to lift the Misericordia University men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over FDU-Florham, Saturday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Nick vonEgypt had a goal and an assist and Andy Bush added a goal as the Cougars rallied to win their Freedom Conference opener.

vonEgypt nearly gave Misericordia the win in the opening minute of overtime, but his shot from 12 yards was saved over the cross bar.

Instead, Panagacos took a throw from Rob Wiacek and poked home the game-winner.

After dominating much of the second half, the Cougars found themselves in a 2-1 hole when the Devils took advantage of a re-start to go ahead at 84:45.

vonEgypt found Bush in the box and he slotted a shot past the Devils keeper to knot score with just over a minute remaining in regulation.

MU came out energized in the second half and had several good opportunities to break a 1-1 deadlock.

Bush served a ball across the box from the left side to Eric Kishbaugh whose shot from the right flank went off the right post at 48:47.

Two minutes later, T.J. Schaefer ripped a shot from 30 yards out that sailed high.

vonEgypt ran down a loose ball along the left side and played a ball back to Dan Pinto, but his chip from 25 yards was high.

vonEgypt again out ran the defense and served a ball to Bush, but his point blank shot was deflected wide at 60:14.
Kishbaugh dribbled through the FDU defense a fired a shot wide right less than two minutes later.

After a couple of good scoring opportunities, the Cougars got on the board when Nick Ferguson served a ball over the top from the right win and vonEgypt headed inside the left post at 16:06.

The Cougars threatened again when Andy Bush took a service from Eric Kishbaugh, but FDU keeper Zachary Bower made a diving stop at 29:25.

Ferguson ripped a shot from 15 yards out, but Bower deflected it wide right just two minutes later.

After FDU tied it at 33:29, Bryce Houdeshel nearly put the Cougars back in front when his strike from the top of the box caromed off the crossbar.

MU, 6-4-1 (1-0), will travel to Dickinson, Wednesday.
