Misericordia Hosting King's for Women's Soccer Championship

The Misericordia University women's soccer team will host King's College in the Freedom Championship match, Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Mangelsdorf Field.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students.

Misericordia won the regular season meeting at King's, 6-0.

The Cougars are the defending Freedom champion and are seeded first after finishing 7-0 during the regular season.

Misericordia improved to 17-2-1 with an impressive 5-0 win over FDU-Florham in Wednesday's semifinal.

King's, the fourth seed, is 9-7-2 after a 3-2 shootout at Wilkes in the semi's.  The Lady Monarchs of head coach Frank Carrozza, a Misericordia graduate, are making their first trip to the Freedom title match.

Head coach mark Stauffer's Misericordia squad is led by a balanced scoring attack that features six players with at least 10 points.

Junior midfielder Megan Mahoney leads the team with 15 goals and has set a new school single-season record with 16 assists and has tied the school single-season record with 46 points.

Megan Lannigan adds 34 points (14g, 6a) while Meghan Antrim is third with 25 points (11g, 3a).  Erin McGreal (7g, 7a) has 21 points and Alyssa Mocion (5g, 7a) and Emily Esposito (7g, 2a) add 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Defensively, the Cougars have 14 shutouts and have allowed just eight goals.  Maureen Ciccosanti has an 89.1 save % and is allowing just 0.39 goals per game with eight shutouts.

Ivy Nulton leads King's with seven goals while Alexandra Garrett has three goals four other players have scored twice.

Jessica Natale has handled the bulk of the goalkeeping chores and has six shutouts with a 1.19 goals against average.

The Freedom Conference champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
